How to resize an image to between 20 KB and 50 KB
- Tap "Choose a photo" or drop one onto the box.
- Pick your form and what you are uploading, or choose "Other sizes" and type the two limits and any size in pixels your form gives.
- Tap "Make the file", check the size shown, and download the JPG.
Good to know
Bank and exam forms ask for each upload between two sizes. IBPS and SBI ask for the photo at 20 to 50 KB and 200 × 230 pixels, the left thumb impression at 20 to 50 KB and 240 × 240 pixels, and the handwritten declaration at 50 to 100 KB and 800 × 400 pixels. UPSC asks for the photo at 20 to 200 KB, and NEET and JEE Main at 10 to 200 KB (their notices, read in October 2026). The file is saved at the best quality under the upper limit, and only if the picture alone is under the lower limit is blank filler added inside the file; the picture stays the same.
Where the form gives a size in pixels, a photo is cut evenly to that shape, so crop it first with Crop and rotate if your face isn’t in the middle. A thumb impression or declaration is fitted inside on white, never cut, and "Make the paper white" cleans up the gray of a phone photo. We count the lower limit as 1,024 bytes a KB and the upper as 1,000, so the file fits however the form counts.
Questions
What if my photo is already under 20 KB?
It is saved at the best quality, and if it is still under 20 KB, blank filler is added inside the file to bring it over the limit. The picture doesn’t change.
Can I use it for SSC or Railway forms?
SSC and the Railway boards take your photo live with the webcam while you apply, so there is no photo file to resize. For the SSC signature, use Resize signature.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The file is made by your browser on your device.
