How to blur the background of a photo
- Tap "Choose photos" or drop a photo onto the box. The first time, allow the one-time download of the background remover (about 6 MB).
- Under the background, choose "Blurred photo". Use Erase or Bring back to touch up the edges.
- Tap "Finish 1 photo", then download the JPG.
Good to know
A blurred background draws the eye to the subject, like the portrait mode on a phone camera. It works well for profile pictures, product photos and pets.
The subject is found by a small model that runs inside your browser, the same one as in Remove background. It is best with one clear subject; loose hair comes out as a soft edge.
Questions
Can I change the background to a color instead?
Yes. Choose white or any color instead of "Blurred photo", or no background for a see-through PNG.
How big is the download?
About 6 MB the first time (about 9 MB on browsers that can use the graphics chip). Your browser keeps it, so later it starts right away.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The background remover runs inside your browser, on your phone or computer.
